Salsa Pittsburgh was created in October 2000 by Jeff & Colleen Shirey. They have been teaching and promoting salsa events since 1999. Jeff was the Pittsburgh Cityguides Correspondent for salsaweb.com from 1999 to 2008, then established salsapittsburgh.com in 2008 as a way to provide salsa dancing related information to the local salsa dance community. The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust is offering Free admission to the Cabaret this Friday, January 27 as a special post-Crawl party, in celebration of the quarterly Gallery Crawl in downtown Pittsburgh.
Live band, Grupo Wepa plays at Mexico City this Saturday, January 28.
New venue for Saturdays at La Cucina Flegrea Restaurant (downtown) begins this Saturday, January 28.
Salsa Pittsburgh's NINE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY of the BMNECC Salsa Social will be celebrated on Saturday, February 11. Join us as we host Film Producer, Josue Joseph with a special viewing of his latest film, La Epoca, Part II, The Lost Rhythms of Salsa at 7:30 pm, followed by a Q&A at 9:30 pm, then social dancing from 10:00 pm until 1:00 am. Josue will also conduct two afternoon workshops from 2:00 - 4:00 pm on Saturday, February 11 at the Wightman School Community Building in Squirrel Hill. The workshops will teach dancers how to incorporate old-School Mambo, and Son-Montuno body movements into their existing dance styles.
